Alimony (Spousal Support)
A spouse who is getting divorced may have the right to seek alimony (also known as spousal support), if that person has the need for alimony and the other spouse has the ability to pay it.  There are also considerations of the parties' standard of living during the marriage.  There are several different types of alimony that can be awarded, including permanent, temporary, lump sum, rehabilitative and bridge the gap, or a combination of these.  Each case is different and may require the use of a forensic accountant to assist in these valuations.
